One of the most unique festivals in the Netherlands is Into The Great Wide Open. I’m used to shooting with very little time, and capturing moments on location. However, I had never done so many portraits in one location in such a short period of time before. I only had a few minutes to do each portrait, which really put the pressure on. All of the images were created just before or after the gig. There wasn’t much freedom of movement. Occasionally, there was a bit more time like for Kovacs and Typhoon (he loved the Tesla ride I organized for him), but the portraits were done in less than 3 minutes flat. Then everything has to be done to view the image, to make it happen and finally: that all the portraits together form a fascinating series, which will inspire for a number of years! The photos shown here are just a selection of 6 out of 18.
