You’ve heard the chorus in schoolyards; the full song in clubs and, of course, on those illegally copied tapes on your Walkman: Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin, I came to win, battle me that’s a sin! An unstoppable Hip Hop classic! Now 25 years later, Q-Factory in Amsterdam was packed with (mostly) men, bearing muscles, baseball caps and strong aftershave. The tension and testosterone surged, hitting explosion point after 90 minutes: Jump around! Jump up, jump up and get down!

HOUSE OF PAIN: Everlast, DJ Lethal, drummer Jason Patterson, keyboard player Bryan Velasco and guest star Sick Jacken (Psycho Realm, Warporn Industries) gave a show that will last a lifetime in the memories of those who were lucky enough to be there. The after show was my chosen moment to frame. The band emerged one by one out of the smoky dressing room to be captured in an individual portrait and finally the full band photo. It was a magical night and one I will remember for a long time to come.
